DPM Krumovgrad Wins Top Award for “Investor in Human Capital and Working Conditions” at Bulgaria’s Most Prestigious Responsible Business Awards

Competing against 60 companies and 91 projects nationwide, our project, “Focused on the Future and the Just Transition,” was recognized as the top initiative for Human Capital and Working Conditions.

As the Ada Tepe mine approaches the end of its operational phase, our focus is on helping the team expand their skill sets and prepare for new professional opportunities beyond mining. In 2025 alone, more than 40 employees expanded their qualifications, with another 100 expected to join these programs this year.

It’s about ensuring a smooth transition for our people and creating a lasting, sustainable legacy for the Krumovgrad community.

DPM Metals was honored to receive the Public Contribution Award from Dir.bg, accepted by Irena Tsakova, General Manager, Ada Tepe. This recognition highlights our strategic commitment to the region’s future beyond mining. Through the Fund for the Support of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises—a partnership with local authorities and financial institutions—over 12 million BGN has been invested in 88 local business projects. This initiative has already created approximately 180 new jobs outside the mining industry, demonstrating how corporate responsibility can build a sustainable local economy based on entrepreneurship and long-term vision.

 

The donation reflects our company’s long-term dedication to strengthening public institutions that provide vital services to citizens. The new portable ultrasound will enable faster and more accurate diagnostics, more efficient procedures, and safer handling of animals, directly contributing to improved veterinary services throughout the Vareš area.

DPM Krumovgrad Honored for Heritage Preservation at "Wonders of Bulgaria" Anniversary

DPM Krumovgrad was distinguished with a prestigious award for its significant contributions to preserving local cultural and historical memory. The company was recognized during the anniversary performance "Bulgaria - Land of Wonders," which celebrated 15 years of the national campaign "The Wonders of Bulgaria," the largest initiative dedicated to popularizing the country's heritage.

The specific recognition highlights DPM Krumovgrad's work in three key areas:

Contribution to the discovery of the oldest mine.
Preservation of ancient harvesting history through the establishment of the Museum of Gold in the Municipality of Krumovgrad.
Investments in the preservation of local cultural and historical memory.
The ceremony also celebrated the campaign's history, which was sparked 15 years ago by the discovery of St. John the Baptist's relics. The event was organized by the Cultural Heritage Society (Bulgarian representative of Europe Nostra) in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and other institutions.

DPM Krumovgrad and its team of partner ecologists have been successfully demonstrating that mining activity and biodiversity can coexist by protecting the well-known turtle population in the Eastern Rhodopes region of Bulgaria.

As part of this crucial, long-term conservation project (spanning over 10 years), more than 2,800 protected turtles (specifically the spike-thigh and spike-tailed species) have been assessed for their health, carefully marked, and recorded in a comprehensive database.

This commitment to the native species and their habitats near Krumovgrad serves as a successful model for the industry globally.

This complete subterranean connectivity is crucial to the mine's digitalization strategy, enabling real-time process monitoring—a capability typically only seen in open mines. Planting the spruce offers long-term benefits, including soil conservation, microclimate improvement, and creating new wildlife habitats. The Department extended thanks to all participants and affirmed its commitment to responsible environmental management and sustainable community development.
